How to Earn Abstract XP: Weekly Updates, Badges and the XP Multiplier

Abstract uses XP to record participation across its ecosystem. Based on the official Portal documentation, this guide covers where XP comes from, how often it updates, badges, multipliers and what happens if you try to game it.

How to Earn Abstract XP: Weekly Updates, Badges and the XP Multiplier

Where XP comes from

Abstract describes XP as the ecosystem's native reward system. The Portal documentation lists three sources:

  • Using apps: engaging with Abstract-powered apps listed on the Discover page.
  • Streaming: streaming Abstract-native apps and related content through Abstract Global Wallet, measured by engagement and onchain-validated app usage.
  • Building: building apps that become successful and widely used.

For most users, the first is the main route. Check that an app appears on the Discover page before you start, and look at that app's own costs and risks.

How often XP updates

XP is updated weekly and shown on your Rewards profile. Activity from today will not show up immediately, so wait for the weekly update instead of repeating actions and paying more gas when nothing changes the same day.

How badges are earned

Badges come from completing quests, some public and some hidden. Badges you are eligible for appear in the Badges section of the Rewards page, where you can see which ones you have.

What the XP Multiplier is

The XP Multiplier in the documentation is bonus XP earned through your community standing and exclusive rewards. Your current multiplier status is shown on the Rewards page. Which standing or rewards qualify, and by how much, follows what the official page shows at the time.

What can cost you XP

According to Abstract, cheating the system or breaking streamer rules can lead to losing XP. XP also belongs to the account that earned it and cannot be moved between accounts. Two things follow:

  • Do not buy "XP boosting" services or trade accounts. XP cannot be transferred to you, and farming may cost the account the XP it already has.
  • Do not repeat empty transactions to farm XP. The gas is a certain cost, and the outcome may be a cheating flag.

What to check when XP does not change

  1. Whether the weekly update has happened: activity from the current week appears only after it.
  2. Whether the app is listed on the Discover page: the documentation does not say that apps outside the list count toward XP.
  3. Whether you signed in to the same account: a different email or social login may correspond to a different wallet and a separate XP record.
  4. Whether the transaction actually succeeded: check its status in a block explorer, because a failed transaction does not mean the action in the app was completed. See what a transaction hash is and how to check its status.

What XP can be exchanged for

The Portal documentation says nothing about converting XP or badges into tokens or cash. It is safer to treat XP as a participation record and not to estimate returns from it. For steps, costs and common questions, see the Abstract Portal participation guide. For how the wallet you sign in with protects its keys, see is Abstract Global Wallet safe.
