Is There a MetaMask Airdrop? Rewards After Season 1 and the $MASK Question

What MetaMask says

• $MASK: asked whether there will be a $MASK token, MetaMask's help center answers no. MetaMask Rewards focuses on rewarding actions you already take by partnering with sponsors, and there are currently no plans for a $MASK token.
• Season 1: Season 1 has ended, and there are no concrete plans for future seasons.
• Past activity: participation in Season 1 or campaigns may or may not be considered for future incentives; nothing is promised.

So any page, email or message claiming that "the MetaMask airdrop is live" or inviting you to "claim your $MASK" contradicts the official position.

What MetaMask Rewards includes now

To take part, open the Rewards tab in MetaMask Mobile, opt in, then opt into individual campaigns. Eligibility varies by campaign and benefit because of regional restrictions, and the app tells you if your region is not eligible. In the help center's Money Sweepstakes example, participants had to deposit at least $100 of mUSD into a Money Account during the campaign, residents of the UK and of New York and Florida were excluded, and prizes were paid in mUSD.

Reward amounts are stated before tax and may be reduced by applicable withholding, and winners must complete tax information before receiving them. For the full steps and costs, see the MetaMask Rewards participation guide.

Does Season 1 activity still count?

The help center says past participation in Season 1 or campaigns may or may not be considered for future incentives. MetaMask has not said how that record would be used, or promised that it will be. Until it does, do not estimate returns from it, and do not put money in to "farm Season 2"; see what Web3 points are and whether they become tokens.

Spotting fake MetaMask airdrops

MetaMask's safety page is blunt:

• MetaMask will not give you assets, including NFTs, tokens, fiat currency, airdrops or random giveaways. Rewards campaigns are something you opt into in the app and claim under their rules, which is not the same as assets that simply show up.
• MetaMask does not need you to enter your Secret Recovery Phrase except when creating or restoring a wallet; any other request is likely a scam.
• MetaMask Support never contacts you first and does not discuss specific support cases on social media.
• Download MetaMask only from metamask.io/download or the official browser extension store; it never pops up unless you start a transaction.

When claiming partner benefits, MetaMask also advises using only the official links in the app. Ignore "claim" links from emails, DMs, ads or group chats. If you have already entered your recovery phrase on a suspicious page, follow what to do after a wallet hack right away.
