Do Galxe Quest Rewards Cost Money? Claim Fees, Gas and GG Explained
Galxe quests often come with a claim fee. Galxe's Rewards Hub documentation ties that fee directly to GG: only quests that charge a claim fee can award it. This guide breaks down what you pay, what GG can be used for and when paying is not worth it.

Why some quests charge a claim fee
Galxe's Rewards Hub documentation (updated August 2026) is direct about it: not every quest offers GG, the amount varies by quest, and only quests that include a claim fee requirement can reward GG.
In other words, GG is mostly a return on paid claims. When you pay a claim fee, you get the onchain record of the quest and the GG the quest lists, not a promise of any project's airdrop.
What you actually pay when you claim
Claiming a quest that awards GG usually involves two charges:
- Platform claim fee: paid to Galxe; the amount is shown on the quest page.
- Network gas: paid to the blockchain, set by the network you claim on and how busy it is.
Galxe lists Gravity L1 Mainnet, Ethereum and BSC as claim networks. The same claim can cost very different amounts of gas on each, and Ethereum mainnet is usually the most expensive. Go by the amount in your wallet's confirmation prompt rather than the estimate on the quest page.
Two things reduce claim fees. Galxe+ subscribers may have their claim fees covered, depending on their plan. And as XP raises your Galxe level, fee discounts increase, up to 75% according to Galxe.
What GG can and cannot be used for
GG is spent inside the Rewards Hub: on mystery boxes, whose prizes can include USDT, ETH, G tokens, a phone or premium features, and on shop items such as a hardware wallet or a Galxe+ subscription.
GG does not convert directly into tokens or cash, and mystery box outcomes are random. A GG balance therefore cannot be turned into a return figure.
Besides paid claims, Galxe lists other ways to earn GG: minting a Galxe Score earns 100 GG, depositing more than $100 into Smart Balance earns 100 GG, and a referred friend completing 10 quests earns 80 GG. Depositing into a platform balance moves real money, so read the withdrawal rules and timing first.
How XP differs from GG
XP measures your engagement on Galxe and raises your Galxe level, which unlocks features and claim-fee discounts. GG is a reward balance you spend. Neither is a project token, and neither guarantees an airdrop.
Working out whether a paid claim is worth it
- Check the GG amount, claim fee and network on the quest page, then confirm the actual gas in your wallet prompt.
- Treat the claim fee plus gas as the certain cost, and mystery boxes or a possible future airdrop as the uncertain return.
- Do not pay repeatedly just to pile up completed quests. Whether a project uses Galxe records for airdrop eligibility is the project's own decision.
- Sign only on Galxe's official pages and read what you are signing. Treat a "claim" request from an unfamiliar page as phishing.
For how to take part and common questions, see the Galxe Rewards Hub participation guide. To read a signature request, see what signing a message means; for why failed transactions still cost gas, see what gas fees are.
